Let's talk about insurance... the dirty way

I have an over 50 on my record. I was doing 142 in the 90 on Gardiner. The whole shabang as you know it. It went to court a couple of months ago, and the paralegal I used told me he worked some magic wonders and dropped it to 49. A sweet talker and a half, I think he's full of shit, but I know him personally as a friend for years, so I figured he wouldn't screw me. At the end of the day, i have to pay about 500 dollars and 4 demerit points, 200 went to him, +the towing charges.

The way I see it, I've paid enough for this stupid law which I now started reading is illegal to begin with.

I'm now looking to get insurance for 1993 bmw 325i I just purchased a couple of days ago. I'm gonna talk to a few insurance people that this friend has as "connections" apparently,
but if I can't get it to something decent, then I want to look for other ways to drive.
here are some ideas my usually very law-abiding brain has come up with:

1. insure it in Montreal. What is the procedure? What are the risks?
2. I heard of some fake slips back 5 or so years ago, you would be ok if pulled over, but ****ed if in an accident. Are they still around? still ok if pulled over?
3. insure it in the states, and drive it in Toronto.
4. insure it on someone else's name , and drive it. Am I covered in case of an accident?

Of course, since the car has no plates, the plates would go together with each option.

Any other ideas?

I'm sure these ideas have crossed many people's minds so let's talk about them for this thread. If there are others, let's hear them.

Also, can I get plates before insuring the car??

Cheers,

Seb

i would personally go with option 4 as thats what i am doing now

just get the most basic insurance u need (liability)

and it'll be dirt cheap especially if u get an older female to do it

heres my story (im in no way held responsible for ur actions btw)

i had a teggy that I paid for, but i had the ownership transfered to my cuz. then i called brokers/agents with his info asking for quotes. got er done, drove it for about a year getting pulled over and such time to time with NO problems at all.

then i got into an accident

wasn't my fault, rear ended and everything was still covered by insurance.

aslong as the vehicle is covered on any policy, it doesn't matter who drives it. just make sure when UR at fault in the accident that they don't go through insurance and u got some deep pockets to pay for third party damages

hope this helps

First of all, thanks for the reply. I appreciate it.

It's good to know that I am actually covered if it's someone else's fault. the funny thing is that this car didn't cost me much, and is not of much value to me. If in an accident, unless very minor, next step is scrapping.
So...
Is there any way for me to be covered for MY fault accidents without my name being on the insurance and me paying a ton? is there a more expensive coverage that would cover other people driving the vehicle?

even if it were ur fault im sure u'd still be covered because its someone elses policy, but their premiums will increase for sure because of a claim. ur name would have nothing to do with the policy because the ownership and everything else would be under that person u choose.

you can add second drivers and stuff, but if u do decide to add urself, it'll probably be more than just yourself.

if u can find someone to do it, great it'll save u money.. but u gotta do ur part and try to be responsible

hope this helps

6000 a year < 1200 a year lol
